Hi everyone, Amy here! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a GP and a CrossFit Level 1 coach. I’m also incredibly excited to be on the path to becoming a nutrition coach here at CrossFit Chiltern.
I wanted to share my “why” – my personal journey and motivations for pursuing this new role.
From Medicine to Nutrition: A Holistic Approach
My interest in nutrition has been a constant throughout my career. From studying food and nutrition at GCSE level to delving into physiology during university, it’s always been a key area of interest. Of course, nutrition was also a significant component of my medical degree.
While these experiences provided a strong foundation, it was my work as a GP that truly solidified my passion for nutrition coaching. In medicine, we often focus on treating diseases after they arise. But I believe true health lies in prevention – in understanding how our lifestyle choices can prevent or even reverse disease.
This proactive approach to health is what excites me most about the CrossFit Chiltern nutrition program.
Beyond the Diet: A Comprehensive View of Health
This program is so much more than just a diet plan. It recognizes that our health is influenced by a complex interplay of factors:
- Stress levels: Chronic stress can have a detrimental impact on our bodies, affecting everything from hormone balance to sleep quality.
- Lifestyle: Our daily routines, work habits, and social connections all contribute to our overall well-being.
- Support system: Having a strong support network can make a significant difference in achieving our health goals.
- Exercise: We all know the benefits of regular exercise, and CrossFit provides a fantastic avenue for challenging ourselves and improving our fitness.
- Sleep: Quality sleep is essential for recovery, hormone regulation, and overall health.
- Nutrition: Of course, nutrition plays a vital role, and this program provides a comprehensive approach to fueling our bodies for optimal performance and health.
A Journey of Learning and Sharing
I recently had my first session with my own nutrition coach, and I found it incredibly valuable. It highlighted areas I can personally improve, and I’m eager to continue learning and growing on this journey.
More importantly, I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience with all of you. I believe that by understanding how these interconnected factors impact our health, we can make lasting changes and achieve our goals.
